Training Programme: In Alignment with SAQA US12484 – Perform basic fire fighting

Duration: 1 Day

 

Introduction:

1 out of every 50 employees in a workplace is required to be competent in basic Fire Fighting Flomotions Fire Fighting Training was designed to equip employees with basic fire fighting skills and fire prevention knowledge.

 

To meet this end, Flomotion delivers a SAQA aligned training programme as per Unit Standard: 12484. The Lecturer for this intervention is an active Fire Fighter with years of field experience.

 

Training Methodology:

The theoretical elements of the training is successfully concluded in class. Candidates are thereafter required to demonstrate competency, outside the class. Candidates who are found competent on this unit standard should be able to:

  • Discuss and explain procedures for dealing with fires in the workplace
  • Identify the type of fire, its context and select the appropriate fire fighting procedure
  • Identify, select and check appropriate fire fighting and safety equipment
  • Fight containable/extinguishable fires
  • Retreat from fire site and hand over to appropriate personnel
  • Report/record status of fire and equipment

 

Who should attend:

All personnel identified as Fire Marshals in the workplace as well as any person wishing to learn basic Fire Fighting procedures.
